4 Ways To Revitalize Your Old Poster Themes
Sometimes it is good to use tried and tested ideas in poster printing. Some advertising campaigns and information drives do indeed succeed in using old color poster ideas that have been tweaked just a bit. All those old ideas to print posters will only need some special tricks to revitalize some aspects of their designs. If you want to try and revitalize one of your old themes in poster printing, here are a few tips that should be quite useful.
1. Correct or renew the colors.
One of the basic steps in revitalizing old color posters is to correct or renew the colors. Changing those old colors to something related but more vibrant gives the old poster design some new energy to work with. Moreover, you can use various color correction and enhancement features in your design software to subtly improve the lightness, darkness and vibrancy of those original poster colors. So you can easily do it without really dismantling your whole poster design. Just make sure those color changes still match the overall theme of the poster.
2. Enhance the old images.
Now, those old poster images would probably need a little refurbishing for them to face the new kind poster printing. In most cases, a little bit of adjustments in their lighting effects should be good. Try adjusting their brightness and contrast settings so that the darker parts of the images appear sharper than the lighter ones. Most design or image enhancement software can do this for you.
Also, if you are a little bit skilled you may want to meticulously remove the noise and “dirt” that some of those old color poster themes may have had in their images. You can directly erase them if you want with certain tools, or you can apply special filters and effects to remove them. This all depends on your design software though.
Whatever you use though, enhancing images gives them a new lease in life and many people will actually like the new treatment to the old and familiar image theme.
3. Use new or improved fonts.
Fonts of course can also be a target of your color poster revitalization. The popular fonts change over time. In fact you will know what fonts were popular in certain eras. For example, you might detect which posters were from 50s when compared to 70s or 80s. You can improve these fonts by using modern remakes of these old nostalgic fonts, or of course you can use new, clearer and related digital versions of those if available. This gives your poster printing that nostalgic effect even though the fonts still look particularly fresh and new.
4. Enlarge the space.
Finally, one of the best techniques in revitalization is just to enlarge your poster printing and add space. Most posters from the past are crowded since they were trying to cram every bit of information that they can. To add that fresh and slightly modern look to your old color posters, just enlarging the canvass and adding some much need space can really make a different. It gives most color posters a clean and more organized effect even though you based it on a more cluttered and older design theme.
